Sensitizing Architecture

The association of humans with architecture can be dated back to around 10,000 BC, with the beginning of Neolithic Age when people decided to move out of caves and ignited the idea of a permanent dwelling. Thereafter, different styles of architecture have evolved over the centuries from ziggurats and pyramids of Egypt to the massive floating domes in Rome. Architecture has always developed in response to the civic, economic and security structure of the region. Over the years, there has been a radical paradigm shift from a decorative ornamental form to a contemporary and more flexible form of architecture.

Architecture is not merely a building structure but an amalgamation of science and art. It offsprings from the basic human need for shelter and takes into account ocular perception developed over the time in response to topography, climate and belief systems prevailing over the period.

However architectural design as we perceive today has reduced to a mere visual perception. Aesthetics have become a sole priority for both the clients and designers showing blatant disregard for the site and environment. This has its manifestations not just at the building level but also at an urban and global scale, escalating environmental issues and deteriorating human health.

Materialism has pervaded the fabric of architecture and led to an inclination towards more ostentatious building designs that fail to take into account sustainable material management, life cycle assessment of building materials, passive construction techniques and incorporation of environment friendly practices such as rain water harvesting, waste management and the like. We need to realise that architectural design must not be perceived as simply a blueprint. For an architect or a building designer, it is in fact an output of comprehensive study and years of experience that allows them to build a comfortable living/working environment for the user.

A good design is always site responsive, climate sensitive and user friendly. Each design has a unique set of requirements and demands which contribute towards individuality of the architecture. As Mies Van Der Rohe said “God lies in the details”; a well planned and detailed design isn’t just light on your pocket but also aesthetically appealing.

There is no point in constructing a building if it cannot give you a better environment indoors while providing you comfort from the extremities of weather in a structurally safe envelope. Hence, any architectural design is not just an architect’s vision but also a manifestation of the client’s imagination and desires. We spend a lifetime of an income in constructing our residences and workplaces. Hence, assigning the rigorous and creative task of designing spaces should be into well trusted hands.

Note 3 Closing IN !

The Galaxy S4 is out of the way, so it time for the Note 3. Over a span of time a lot of rumors regarding this device have emerged. I’ve compiled all rumors together.

Display and Design
The note series is what pioneered the Phablet Concept. The display is surely going to get bigger this time. Various numbers ranging from 6.5 to 5.9 have popped up. The figure of 6 is what reliable sources are claiming.

There are rumors that the device will come in three different variations – one with a flexible screen, one similar to the S4, and one with a different form factor.

Im sure Samsung will not deviate from its choice of a Super AMOLED display. Although larger Super AMOLED displays are somewhat more difficult to pull off at decent resolutions (not to mention more expensive to manufacture), I doubt Samsung will deviate from its usual choice of AMOLED for the Galaxy Note 3. Primarily this is to do with the fact that it’s easier and cheaper to integrate the Wacom stylus digitiser technology with AMOLED rather than LCD, particularly at higher resolutions.

If it goes for a 1080 p screen the pixel density would be close to 373 ppi but there will be a lot of technical limitations to create it.

Camera
The latest rumors suggest that the device will have a 13 MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization technology. The 13 Mp was already confirmed when the S4 sported it but what comes here will be a camera software which can compete with the HTC One and the Lumia 925.

The front camera will more than likely be the same as the Galaxy S4’s, rated at 2-megapixels with 1080p capture.

Processor, Battery, Connectivity and Hardware
Several benchmark scores have cropped up in the course of time and will have different versions as in case of the S4. The device might most probably sport an octa core processor version and a snapdragon 600 version. There are rumors that we might see it come with a snapdragon 800 which currently looks unlikely.

Leaked benchmarks for the Galaxy Note 3 show an Exynos 5 chip at 1.6GHz but I suspect for the UK we’re looking at another Qualcomm 600 chip clocked at around 2GHz to mirror the flagship model.

For now it seems that the device comes with 2 GB of RAM while 3 GB is also in talks, rest assured that the device will be monster in terms of performance.

The device might sport a huge 4000 mah battery given that Mega 6.3 features a 3200 mah battery and as usual will be removable.

Although Samsung still markets its devices with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants for onboard storage it is becoming increasingly rare that we see the upper two tiers launched in the UK.

Software and UI
The device will most probably run on Android 4.2.2 but there is a chance that it might feature the 4.3 Jellybean given it releases soon. I can imagine Samsung would be keen to put it onboard the Galaxy Note 3 at the earliest opportunity.

The touchwiz takes up a lot of space which I would like to see optimized now
.
Release and Price
Some fairly convincing reports cite Samsung’s own executives who’ve allegedly confirmed it would arrive at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany – the annual event is scheduled for September. That’s the same event where Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 2 in September 2012.

Some of Samsung’s products with new and advanced technology, such as the Galaxy S4, do seem to be getting more expensive and it’s possible we could see the Galaxy Note 3 hit around £600 (Rs 50000) instead, depending on the complexity of the display and camera tech onboard.

Top 10 First-Date Mistakes

The best thing about bad dates is that we walk away with a great story, and little doubt that the perpetrator is not the person for us.

I was thinking about some of the common errors made on first dates. I came up with 10 common mistakes that could kill the chances for a second date:

Arriving Late

Even five minutes of lateness is inexcusable on the first date. People are already anxious on these excursions, so making someone wait and think more about everything is pretty rude. Seems like the trend in NYC is to be late for things regularly. On one date, I texted the girl and told her I was running late. She said she was too. We ended up just having the date ½ hour later than planned and technically no one was late because we were both ½ hour late together.

Wardrobe Malfunction

Make sure you cater what you wear to what you're doing. I try not to make a girl walk too much if she's in heels. Also, I've seen girls wear pearls and a nice blouse to trashy outdoor drinking events, or heels to sporting events.

Talking Politics or Religion

Staying away from debatable content is a good idea the first time out. It's fun to argue with your significant other, but I think it's important to reach a comfort level first. If you try to proselytize someone, or battle them over a hot topic like abortion, you may reach a point of no return.

Checking Out Other People

You'd think that no one would do this, but guys are always looking at waitresses, or other patrons when out. My one friend got in hot water because his date told me he made cat calls at other girls while on a date. Talk about a mistake!

Bringing Friends (Non Group Date)

If you bring friends along you look immature and insecure. You also throw the other person for a loop if they were expecting the date to be one-on-one. Make sure you establish that it is a one-on-one date, and follow the rules and show up alone.

Getting Too Drunk

Some people turn into a completely different person when they are drunk. Let the other person learn about you while you're sober, before you get wasted with them. Alcohol should be introduced into the relationship slowly, but if a drink or two takes the edge off, and wine adds romance it's fine. Just don't push it too far.

Being Too Aggressive

No one wants to deal with someone's wandering hands before they are ready. It is one of the best ways to creep someone out. Just because someone is getting dinner with someone once doesn't mean it's an invitation into the sack. It's best to be hands off on the first date.

Being Too Unaggressive

My friend Margaret warns me to be more aggressive all the time. She said that if I don't kiss someone at the end of a date, or make a move when they hop in my bed they will begin to think something's wrong with them, or that I'm not into them. Maybe that's true, but sometimes I am just being too safe so that I don't break the rule I just mentioned above.

Canceling at the Last Minute or Standing Someone Up

Canceling for a legitimate reason is fine, but respect your date's time so that they can plan their night without you. Canceling one hour before a date is not cool — most of the date prep has already started at this point. Standing someone up is so rude. What does it accomplish? If you change your mind, at least have the strength to just cancel. No need to make someone feel bad and waste their time just because you're too chicken to cancel the date.
Dominant Speaker
Try to breathe in between sentences, and don't talk too much. Give your date a chance to talk. Aren't you trying to get to know one another? And don't speak for that other person (i.e order for them at dinner) unless they invite you to help with their order.

5 Foods That Make Your Skin Glow

Pumpkin Seeds
Another seed with a powerful skin-beautifying effect, pumpkin seeds get their power from both the beauty mineral, zinc, and essential fatty acids including omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9. Like hemp seeds, they help reduce inflammation in the body. Try them sprinkled on salads, in smoothies, or simply by the handful.

Arugula
This dark, leafy green is an excellent source of two of the keys to gorgeous skin: Vitamin A and sulfur. The chlorophyll in arugula is a potent detoxifier, too.

Try a raw arugula salad topped with the rest of the foods on this list for a delicious dish that will get your skin glowing.

Radishes
Raw food advocate David Wolfe claims these are one of the most beautifying of all foods. Radishes contain a number of minerals and compounds that benefit the skin. They are high in sulfur, silicon, and Vitamin C, which work together to create glowing skin by boosting collagen, strengthening skin, and stimulating the circulatory system

Slice radishes into salads, or have as a snack on their own or with a dip.

Avocados
This creamy fruit delivers a healthy dose of vitamins on its own. Even better: when you pair avocado with a carotenoid-rich food, such as tomatoes, carrots, or bell peppers, it can help you absorb up to five times more of the antioxidants lycopene and beta carotene.

Hemp Seeds
These tiny little seeds are composed of a massive amount of protein, including the sulfur-bearing amino acids: methionine, cysteine, and cystine, which are used to build strong hair, nails, muscle, and skin.

They also have the ideal ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids (1:3), and even include omega 9, which are all strong antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is the cause of many of our skin woes, including blemishes and wrinkles, so adding hemp seeds to your diet can help reduce or prevent those skin issues.

Enjoy them on their own, sprinkled in salads, or blended in smoothies.
